    Australia Day Week!

    Seabrae Manor have decided to celebrate Australia day for an entire week! The theme of the week was the ‘Aussie Outback’. The courtyard was transformed into a camping ground complete with a camp oven! Residents made delicious traditional damper drizzled with butter and honey. There were a few games of cricket, crafts, quizzes and even had a thong throwing contest!     Residents at Seabrae Manor Aged Care are taking a ride on the wild side. They have been given the opportunity to ride on the back of a Harley Davidson! Some fantastic motorcycles have been brought to the home for all the residents to enjoy and offered a quick ride for the daring ones.     Let’s all horse around!

    Seabrae Manor has original farmland right at its doorstep. Located just across the Manor, there are paddocks filled with beautiful horses and other friendly animals. Often residents are escorted to the paddock to feed, pat and play with them. Residents enjoy watching the animal run around and play in the fields. Some residents previously lived on a farm and owned horses. Having these animals at our doorstep gives residents a chance to reminisce about their day on the farm. #S

    Elvis is in the building!

    Residents at Seabrae Manor were treated to an “Elvis Presley Tribute Show”. This show was in honour of Elvis’ Birthday on the 8th of January, he would have been 84 years old. Elvis was born in 1935 and until this day he can be heard playing through speakers at our Manor. There was a fantastic performance from an Elvis impersonator, playing all the classic hits and tunes.     Veggies, get your fresh veggies!

    Seabrae Manor have started their own Veggie sale! All vegetables that are sold are grown right here in our very own garden. Residents have been tending to their patches and have nurtured some fantastic looking produce. Residents who are selling their produce donate all their earnings to charity!     A local farm has brought in some farm animals to Seabrae Manor Aged Care. There were all sorts of little and big animals that paid the residents a visit. Visitors could be excused for thinking they were at the zoo, as you could see lambs, goats, pigs, ducks and more!     Seabrae Manor Aged Care have a special ‘wishing well’ for all the residents. This well encourages residents to ‘make a wish’ for something of interest to them.     Seabrae Manor Aged Care have been treated to a delicious three course fine dining experience. The menu included puree of mash potato and beetroot for the entrée. There was pork and vegies for the main and individual mini pavlovas topped with fresh fruit and cream for dessert. Yum! Everything was appealing to the eye and to the stomach!     Ron’s Story

    Seabrae Manor Aged Care have held a surprise Morning Tea for one of their special residents, Ron. With his wife and family present he was presented with a book titled “Ron Nolan’s Life Story” Ron had secretly written a memoir of his life. This had been kept away for safe keeping until it was discovered by a family member in his wardrobe.     Australia Day is celebrated across the country every year on the 26th January. This tradition represents the arrival of the First fleet from Britain in 1788.     During Christmas time, Seabrae Manor Aged Care celebrated with lots of fun activities and outings. Residents participated in the annual Christmas Light bus trip. They were off to see Sandgate Uniting Church – they were the winners of the 4K Christmas Light competition 2018 for Brisbane!     The residents at Seabrae Manor have been on a shopping spree at the Ekka Markets. There was so many fun and brightly coloured stalls and lots of entertainment and food.     Ballroom dancers Belinda and Lester waltzed into Seabrae Manor for our Masquerade Ballroom Dancing event. They showcased their elegance and fabulous dancing skills much to our resident’s delight.     Looking pretty in pink for her birthday, resident Irene May Charles recently turned 107 years! She is the eldest known living person in the Petrie Electric. ‘Aunty May’ as she’s best known, was born in 1911 and celebrated the day with an intimate family gathering (opted for a quieter birthday this year).
