Happy Australia Day!

Australia Day is celebrated across the country every year on the 26th January.

This tradition represents the arrival of the First fleet from Britain in 1788. This fleet comprised of 11 ships and was under the guidance of Captain Arthur Phillip. The fleet sought to establish a Colony of New South Wales at Botany Bay. This area was previously explored and claimed in 1770 by James Cook.

The fleet firstly arrived in Port Jackson and renamed land around the area such as Sydney Cove, Botany Bay. They began their new civilisation. This is now where Sydney is located today.

Australia Day brings all families, friends and cultures together to celebrate our great Nation. At the Beach, at the Park or even at home behind the family barbeque, Australian’s love to get together to celebrate this joyous occasion every year.

Happy Australia day!
