Understanding Aged Care Costs and Fees
The fees you pay for residential aged care will depend on your individual financial circumstances, the fee arrangements that apply to you and the accommodation options you choose.
Depending on your circumstances, you may need to pay a basic daily fee, accommodation costs and means-tested contributions. You may also choose to pay for additional services.
We’ve provided an overview of the main fees and payment options below to help you understand how they work. Fees and room prices are reviewed regularly and updated when required in line with Australian Government requirements and applicable interest rates.
Accommodation Payment
An accommodation payment is the amount you may pay towards the cost of your room in residential aged care. The maximum accommodation payment for each room is published by Seabrae Manor.
The amount you may need to pay depends on your financial circumstances and the outcome of your income and assets assessment. Depending on your circumstances, you may be able to choose how you pay your accommodation costs.
Accommodation can generally be paid as a Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD), a Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP), or a combination of both.
We recommend seeking independent financial advice from a professional who specialises in aged care before deciding which payment option is right for you.
You have 28 days from the day you move into our home, to decide upon your preferred method of accommodation payment. Until you make this decision, your accommodation costs must be made as DAP payments.
Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD)
A Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD) is a lump-sum payment that you may choose to pay towards your accommodation in residential aged care.
The maximum RAD for each Seabrae Manor room is published above. If you choose to pay a RAD, you have six months from that date to make the payment.
Residents entering aged care from 1 November 2025 may have a 2% per annum retention amount deducted from their RAD, capped at five years, in accordance with current Australian Government aged care arrangements.
When a resident leaves Seabrae Manor, their RAD is refunded to them or their estate, less any agreed or permitted deductions.

Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP)
A Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP) is an accommodation payment made as a daily amount rather than as a lump-sum Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD).
The DAP is calculated using the amount of your agreed accommodation payment and the Maximum Permissible Interest Rate (MPIR) set by the Australian Government. Unlike a RAD, a DAP is paid as an ongoing daily amount and is not refundable.
You can choose to pay your accommodation costs as a DAP, a RAD, or a combination of both, depending on your individual circumstances and the arrangements that apply to you.
The DAP for each Seabrae Manor room is published above. As the applicable interest rate can change, the DAP amount may also change when the relevant rate is updated.

Basic Daily Fee
The Basic Daily Fee is a standard fee that applies to residents receiving residential aged care. It contributes towards everyday living costs such as meals, cleaning, laundry and personal care.
The Australian Government sets the Basic Daily Fee which is calculated as 85% of the single aged care pension. The fee is reviewed and updated by the Australian Government on 20 March and 20 September each year.

Non-Clinical Care Contribution
The Non-Clinical Care Contribution is a contribution towards the cost of non-clinical care that some residents may be required to pay under the Aged Care Act 2024.
Services Australia will assess your income and assets to determine whether you are required to pay this contribution and, if so, how much you will need to pay.
Lifetime caps apply to limit the total amount you may be required to pay. Services Australia will provide you with information about any contribution you are required to pay.
Hotelling Contribution
The Hotelling Contribution is a means-tested contribution towards everyday living expenses in residential aged care. It may apply depending on your income and assets assessment.
Services Australia will assess your financial circumstances and notify you if you are required to pay a Hotelling Contribution and the amount you will need to pay.
The Hotelling Contribution is separate from the Basic Daily Fee and any accommodation payments you may need to make.
