The Ekka of Yesteryear!

The Ekka is the annual show of Queensland and the first ever show was held in 1921. The formal title is the Royal Queensland Show, and it is held at the Brisbane Showgrounds. It was originally called the Brisbane Exhibition, but it is more commonly known as the "Ekka", short for "exhibition".

Every year, Seabrae Manor host their very own Ekka celebration. This year, we have called it the EKKA of yesteryear. Our residents danced to Old Ye Brass Band, playing some great tunes to have a dance too.

There was a petting zoo with baby goats, piglets, and lambs where residents couldn’t keep their hands of the baby animals, embracing them with lots and lots of cuddles.

Residents had the opportunity to view some really vintage cars as well as being able to leisurely stroll through the great variety of stalls.

For lunch, there was a sausage sizzles and for dessert out famous strawberry sundaes to go around. The sun was shining and our inaugural pie throwing competition, had our residents lined up ready to throw their cream pie plates at courageous staff. Everyone had a fantastic day and have already begun the planning for the next celebration.

We hope to see you all next year! making a wish.
