Some of our residents and volunteers recently visited the Pine River Men’s Shed in the quaint Old Petrie Town.
They were welcomed with a wonderful morning tea that included meat pies. All the residents were taken on a guided tour with demonstrations of what they do in the great shed. They even got to see a guitar being made!
The shed is an opportunity for people to bring in projects that they are working on while enjoying a cuppa and chat with others. People can keep up their carpentry skills and continue making things.
After the shed tour, they stopped off at the Pine Rivers Heritage Museum where they had lunch. The museum explores the district’s historic character where they learnt about local settlement, the early timber-getters and industries, experienced an 1890’s school classroom and saw an original farm workers cottage.
Residents loved hearing about the local history and seeing the old machinery and antique equipment.
A great day was had by all!
