The Memory Lane Bus Stop is an addition to our Memory Lane Store.
The store was created for residents who suffer from Dementia and Alzheimer’s. One of the effects of Alzheimer’s is a yearning to ‘go home’.
The idea behind the Memory Lane Bus Stop was to prevent residents wandering away and trying to access public transport. This bus stop provides residents with comfort and security within the safe environment of the home. The stop serves a purpose to let residents maintain their independence as they make their way to the bus stop to ‘go on a ‘trip’ or ‘go home’.
This area is monitored and when a resident sits down to ‘catch a bus’, staff can engage in conversation and soothe them back inside. Perhaps even for a cup of tea!
