106 Years Young

On the 18th October we gathered together for a delightful morning tea to celebrate an amazing milestone for our lovely resident Irene May Charles known to all as ‘Aunty May’ who turned 106 years of age.

Born in 1911, Aunty May celebrated her birthday surrounded by family and friends, enjoying every minute. Her family presented her with a ‘This is Your Life’ book filled with stories, pictures and special memories which she loved.

There were presentations, speeches, gifts, flowers, handmade cards and a concert too!

The home was decorated with birthday festivities and there was plenty of food and cupcakes for all to enjoy. Aunty May even got up to make a wish and blew out her birthday candle on top of a delicious chocolate cake whilst telling all that she has always had a plan to live to 2020!

Making the day even more wonderful was when she received an official congratulations from the Premier of Queensland – minister of the Art as well as receiving an official letter of congratulations from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Amongst her family members to attend were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to make the occasion extra special. Seabrae Manor’s CEO, Andrew Meek and the National Operations Aged Care Manager, Neville Watson were also there to wish her a very happy birthday.
