January has been a wonderfully vibrant month here at Seabrae Manor, filled with creative pursuits, patriotic celebrations, and memorable community outings that brought us all together.

Watercolour Art Workshop

We were delighted to welcome local artist Heather to Seabrae Manor for a special watercolour painting session. The group thoroughly enjoyed rediscovering artistic skills that many hadn't used for years, and we were impressed by the talent on display. There's something truly special about watching our residents reconnect with their creative sides, brushes in hand, bringing colour and life to blank canvases. The concentration, the conversation, and the gentle pride in their finished works reminded us all that creativity has no use-by date.

Australia Day Celebrations

The lead-up to Australia Day was busy and joyful at Seabrae Manor. Our residents got hands-on with traditional damper making, kneading dough and sharing stories of Australia Days past. We also spent time painting Uluru, capturing the iconic red rock in all its majesty on canvas – a fitting tribute to our country's natural beauty.

The celebrations continued throughout the weekend with a packed programme of activities. We enjoyed Australia Day games, a festive happy hour, Australian bingo with prizes, and a rousing game of Aussie trivia that tested everyone's knowledge of our sunburnt country. The atmosphere was warm, patriotic, and filled with laughter as residents competed good-naturedly and shared memories of Australia Days gone by.

Waterfront Lunch at Redcliffe

Mid-month, we headed out for a gorgeous lunch outing to Cafe63 at Redcliffe. There's nothing quite like dining by the water, and our residents made the most of the beautiful setting and delicious food. The smiles captured in our photos tell the whole story – good company, lovely surroundings, and a meal enjoyed together. These outings remind us that home extends beyond our walls, and the simple pleasure of lunch by the bay is something worth savouring.

January at Seabrae Manor has been about connection – to our creative selves, to our Australian heritage, and to each other. We're looking forward to what February brings.
